2014-03-18 To my brother.
2014-03-18
Hello D.,
I would like to know from you. How are you, how do you feel and what are you doing? I would also like to tell you that I often remember you, even if I don’t tell you. I remember the conversations we have had in the past. I remember blaming you for what you did and how you did it. Now I’m realizing how wrong I was and how wrong I was in blaming you for what you were doing
I wanted to apologize to you. I have been very hard on you. I have not accepted you as the person you are. As the person that today you have managed to be. Like everything you have achieved despite the difficulties that life has imposed on you. How have you overcome all those obstacles and inconveniences. I was only looking at the bad things and I couldn’t see all the good ones you have achieved thanks to your own merits.
All your past experiences have been key for you to be here today. Accepting your past experiences and the environment in which you were born, grown and lived, I can accept and understand who you are today and why you are the way you are. I can accept all your virtues and understand your flaws. But I don’t blame you for any of them. Because in the past they have been adaptive and, evolutionarily speaking, they have been necessary for your survival. I understand them and I don’t blame you for them.
Your strengths and weaknesses are intrinsic to the person you are. They are part of you. Without them you would not be who you are. Therefore, I accept you as a brother and as a person. I accept all your facets. I don’t judge you and I don’t blame you. Anyone else in your same situation and having experienced your same situations, would be where you are, or would not even have gotten as far as you have. That is something very valuable of you, and it says a lot about the person you are. For this reason, I want to apologize. My sincere apologies for all the bad words I have said to you in the past, for my bad behavior towards you, for having been hard on you. Really, I’m so sorry.
I would like you to answer me, if you want, writing me a letter as I have done. Telling me how you are doing, how you feel, and what you are doing. I send it to you by email because the technology is faster to send the information. But to write, I think, it is better to do it by hand, as I did it. I think that writing by hand one thinks better and has purer ideas and feelings. Therefore, I ask you please, if you want to answer me with a letter, firstly, write it by hand. Do not worry about the mistakes you make, and if the ideas do not come out ordered the first time. You will have time later to organize it. At the end, when it is finished, you can write it to your computer and see if everything is in order.
I hope to receive your reply soon.
Carlos.
